Finnish Lapland has always been a dream of mine to visit and travel!! I still can't believe we've actually been and yes it was even more incredible than I could have ever imagined it would be!!
Since eloping with my husband on a remote northern Norwegian fjord over 9 years ago (also Lapland), I have wanted to photograph a dreamy snow-covered wedding or elopement. So before heading out for our amazing winter wonderland trip, I had been in contact with the lovely Rue from Sun and Snow Weddings for some time and she kindly invited me to come along to her Snow Chapel and photograph one of her lovely UK couples who were secretly eloping in Lapland with their four children at the Northern Lights Ranch, Levi.
Marry in a Snow Chapel in Lapland, Finland
Each year once the snow starts to settle Rue and her trusted team set out to create, shape and sculpt a snow chapel for excited couples to come and marry and elope in beautiful Lapland. With only being around 15mins from the popular ski resort area of Levi, the luxury Northern Lights Ranch is the perfect spot for an unforgettable wedding in Finnish Lapland. Northern Lights Ranch is an igloo-style boutique hotel, a remote location with reindeers roaming and traditional-style kota's to keep you nice and warm.
Reindeer sleigh ride on your Wedding day
A fun element to add to your Lapland Wedding has to be a beautiful short sleigh ride around the ranch with local reindeer. With cosy blankets and the snow falling, you really couldn't have this experience in many other places in the world other than here. Just magical!
Imagine your own snowy photos and dreamy wedding portraits in Lapland
There are so many wedding photos you could take in Lapland - but personally I think it's super important to include the incredible backdrop you have chosen. At the Northern Lights Ranch, there are a few areas close to the Snow Chapel to have your couples photos taken. Rue guided us to the edge of the forest for some romantic moments here amongst the snowy forest backdrop. With it then being twilight, the sky came out in beautiful hues of blues and purples as the sun set. Everywhere is so picturesque, just walking along with large snow-covered trees alongside you is pretty special in itself and it's here where I love to capture super relaxed photos of you both just being you, taking in the experience, the scenery and the fact you have just gotten married in the Arctic Circle in Lapland!

Once all your vows have been spoken, experiences complete and photos taken. Take a seat in the stunning Northern Lights Ranch restaurant and enjoy warming up with a real fire with a beautifully created menu that showcases a delightful blend of Finnish and Nordic flavours with a touch of international flair. To make your wedding and dining experience even more enchanting, you're able to dine alongside the reindeer enclosure, where the local reindeer are roaming just outside the dining room windows - such a surreal moment!!
